I saw these guys when they opened for Lucero and Deer Tick a few weeks ago. Great live show and fun jams. This song was also featured in Mark Wahlberg’s Contraband, so…you know it’s good.

This was a picture I took of Jeff after he invented a little thing called the light bulb, maybe you’ve heard of it. Well this photograph was at some point in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s, there was no date on it. Jeff and I were very distracted at this point, there was a lot more to do, you know, with light anytime we wanted it. Those were some wild times, thank you Jeff.

This cloudy and rainy weather is really bringing me down. Lucero’s track “Sweet Little Thing” off their 2002 release Tennessee is one of my favorite rainy day jams.

You can call him Ben Howard, maybe?

When you hear the lyrics on the original track, you might think, what in the hell is happening? Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” is by no means a deep song but Ben’s cover had me really wondering if he called her. I am really into it and it’s awesome to see someone take a song like this in a whole other direction. Ben’s album Every Kingdom is out now.

He describes himself as a “keen surfer”, and recently gave a series of beachside gigs in aid of keeping Britain’s shores “barefoot-friendly”, but if you’re about to parkour your way to any conclusions, don’t. Ben Howard most certainly isn’t the “UK’s answer to Jack Johnson”.
